The FIRST website provides real time container information for the Port of New York and New Jersey.
FIRST provides information on ship, truck or train arrivals, up-to-date real time cargo status information including
demurrage, carrier release, and customs release information as well as Sealink information. FIRST also provides a vessel scheduling component and Berh Application
process.
The objective of FIRST is to provide the Port of New York and New Jersey with a new, centralized, online application that will
consolidate the various existing sources of critical cargo transfer and carrier information. FIRST will be a web-based application
integrating available, real-time information on truck, including Sealink information, ship, or train arrivals.
FIRST will also provide up-to-date container cargo status (with future expansion to break-bulk and other cargo types),
real-time video feeds to monitor congestion at seaport entry gates and real-time road conditions on the major arterial roadways
leading to the port ; enhanced intermodal connectivity by improving the in-transit visibility of cargo and ultimately have
a positive commercial and environmental impact upon the port community. The technology utilized in streamlining the current
flow of information will be readily available to all regional intermodal freight service providers and customers.
